Membership at Howick Sailing Club
New members are always welcome at Howick Sailing Club. Come and see us on our Club days (Sundays during daylight savings) and we will be happy to introduce you to the Club and show you around. We are a family oriented Club with both Junior and Senior racing, Learn to Sail courses and sailing development programmes… not to mention lots of fun on the water. Membership to Howick Sailing Club gives you:
Access to the club facilities on sailing/race days
- The ability to sign up for our courses and attend our events
- Friendly advice and support from other club members
- The opportunity to be part of a great group of people
As Howick Sailing Club is a not for profit voluntary organization, all members are expected to volunteer their time to support the Club operations.Voluntary activities include:
- running the galley (that’s the kitchen for you land lubbers!)
- supporting the Committee or being a part of a Sub-Committee for Club activities
- patrol boat / safety crew operation*
- being Officer of the Day or other activities on the Club Day Duty Roster when assigned
- running races or assisting with race management
- fundraising
- boat and equipment maintenance
- property maintenance / working bees
- running or assisting with running courses, such as LTS*
- helping out launching and receiving boats
- helping with post-sail clean up duties
*the Club will provide training or fund your course fees if you require training in these areas.
Membership includes affiliation with Yachting New Zealand and the Auckland Yacht and Boating Association. Fees and more details are outlined below.
Subscriptions and Fees:
Online Registrations for new and existing members are open now. New and returning members can register their families for the coming season on-line. Membership fees are to be paid into the Club bank account prior to 1st October.
On registering your membership you will receive a welcome communication to the Club which will have Club banking and reference details. The subscriptions and fees for the 2024-25 season are as follows:
- Family membership - $260
- Senior membership - $210
- Junior membership (under 18 years) - $125
- Associate membership - $120 (Associate membership entitles individual to race 3 race days/season – must pay casual race day fees as well)
- Casual Race Day Fee (non-members) - $20
- Learn to Sail / Race - $280/ 6 week course (Sundays or Mid-week 6 week course) - Dates to be advised. No membership required.
- Learn to Sail - Holiday Courses - $280 (4 day block course 9am-3pm) Dates to be advised. No membership required.
